entry #1: soft launching the website!

Date: October 20, 2025
Mood: Productive, excited

Dear Diary...

Earlier this year I learned about the indie web and neocities and started my website! I worked on it for about 2 hours, and then promptly forgot about it.

A few weeks ago, I started my final university semester, and one of the classes I had to take was Web Publishing, where we are learning how to code with HTML. It reminded of me of my neocities, and I found the inspiration to work on my website again.

That was exactly two weeks ago. Today, I "finished" all of my main pages (and by finished I mean got them to look good and have all the links work properly) and told my friends about it. So today I consider this the offical "soft launch" of my website! I've absolutely fallen in love with HTML coding these last couple weeks and have really enjoyed watching my website come together. I'm especially proud of my shrine pages and my little links sidebar on the home page.

Also, after telling my friends about it, I managed to convince them to make their own neocities accounts and create their own websites! We sat in a Discord call for about 4 hours and I got to help them start coding and designing their sites. I've linked to them on my home page and links page so be sure to check them out! It was so much fun being able to indulge in this new special interest with them.

In honor of soft launching my site I also wanted to write my first diary entry too! This is going to be my sort of blog but with no real rhyme or reason to the posts. I'm just gonna talk about whatever I want, whenever I want, no specific theme or post schedule! Like talking about my day. I literally did nothing but code today haha, and it was a blast! Was bedridden in pain for a little bit which sucked but thankfully I had my friends to distract me. I've also been recovering from being sick but I'm almost 100% better now!

So yeah, a relatively short and sweet diary entry today. I love writing and I'm so excited to post here as much as possible!

See you next entry.

Love,

Claire
